Burger Bonanza: Unveiling the Top 5 Must-Have Burgers in Minneapolis-St. Paul!

We love a good burger and the Twin Cities Burger scene does not disappoint. Check out our Top 5 favorite burgers in the cities!

Parlour Bar – Locations in Minneapolis (in North Loop near downtown) + St. Paul (near downtown on W 7th)

The Minneapolis location is the original. It seems like you are in the wrong place. The downstairs bar has a speak easy-esque feel to it and you aren’t sure that they would serve any food, let alone any amazing burger. But worry-not! They have one of the best smash burgers we have ever had. There is not a full menu here. You go to get the burger and share some fries. It’s worth the stop!

Casper & Runyon’s The Nook – location in St. Paul south of Hwy 94 and west of 35E

This is the original location and has a sweet old school bowling alley in the basement. We don’t care who invented the Juicy Lucy (A cheese stuffed burger), cause this one is probably our favorite. The Juicy Lucy has become a Twin Cities staple and we think they do it the best. Careful on your first bite. The servers are not lying, it’s HOT. I always seem to burn my thumbs when I eat these. Their regular fries and sweet potato fries are amazing. Really good wings. And if you haven’t had a cheese curd before, here is a place to get them. I swear these are sent from Heaven…

Sonder Shaker – location in Minneapolis near downtown (St Anthony Main Area)

OMG. I still remember the first time we came to this place. Their décor makes me so happy and their food makes my mouth water thinking about it. They have the best smash burger we have ever bitten into. Their brussel sprout dish is something I dream of. Their cocktails are fun. This is somewhere we want to take everybody. If you are early for your reservation, walk to Sidebar at Surdyk’s and get a fun mocktail, beer or cocktail before you go to Sonder Shaker.

Red Cow – Multiple locations in MPLS + St. Paul (a hand full of locations, some near our houses)

This has been a staple for awhile now in the Twin Cities. They have some of the best burgers ever. They have different meat mixtures (ground bacon and beef) or ratios (fat to lean meat). They are thoughtful with their burger options on the menu. They have amazing truffle tots that go well with the burgers. Their Ahi Tuna Crisps are also a delightful way to start the meal. Lots of beer on tap and fun drinks. If it’s Christmas time(ish), GO HERE! They make Christmas throw up all over their restaurants and it is seriously Merry.

Matt’s Bar – location in Minneapolis (South Minneapolis off of Hwy 77)

This is another Juicy Lucy place and it’s my second favorite Juicy Lucy for sure. This is a straight and to the point experience. They have burgers + fries. Nothing else. They have ketchup and mustard or mayo for your fries. There is no ranch available. You get a juicy lucy, cheeseburger or hamburger. Fried onions, fresh onions or no onions. I LOVE THIS PLACE for both its simplicity and flavor. I assume the flavor is from the little tiny grill they have been using for what seems like forever. This place is the real deal. If you don’t want to wait for a table during lunch or dinner time, call or stop in and get it for take out.
